Summary
Read through the following topics to learn more about
minimising the dangers associated with power sanders:
1 Checking the power cable
2 Checking sander status
3 Basic health protection
4 Isolating power when making changes
Step 1 - Checking the power cable
Always check the condition of the plug and power cable
before use and have them replaced by a specialist if
defective. Be careful that you do not let the cable
become trapped or abraded during use.
Step 2 - Checking sander status
Make sure the sander is switched off before inserting
the plug into the socket.
Step 3 - Basic health protection
It is important to protect yourself from health hazards
which might occur during sanding by using a dust mask,
protective goggles, and where indicated by the
manufacturer, ear defenders.
Step 4 - Isolating power when making changes
Before any work on the sander itself (such as swapping
sanding sheets), pull the plug from the socket. This
reduces the chance of someone inadvertently switching
the power back on.
